All of our Shungite is 100% genuine and authentic Karelian Shungite and our shaped pieces are made of standard (regular) Shungite which is the only kind that can be used for polishing and shaping as the other kinds are too brittle.

Handling Shungite may leave residue of Carbon which is easily washed off. All Standard Shungite is 25-75% Carbon depending on the piece, and have inclusions and impurities such as traces of Pyrite and other minerals which is why it is not used for water filtration. These inclusions can show physically in appearance on the Crystal and therefore each piece differs slightly in appearance and can have some streaks and lines showing up on the surface, which is perfectly normal and should be expected for standard Shungite.
